River Valley neighbourhood is right smack in the middle of Tanglin, Orchard, Fort Canning Hill and the Singapore River. Needless to say, location is excellent and central, spanning Districts 3, 9 and 10.
While it is pretty much in the city centre, River Valley is actually a very laidback and green place to live. Park connectors and trees line the Singapore River, and connect Kim Seng Park to Robertson Quay, Clarke Quay, Fort Canning Park... all the way to the Esplanade. Adults and kids alike can often be seen walking, running, cycling, scootering, walking their dogs, etc. along the wide pathways.
Known for its large expat population, River Valley is also home to a wide variety of cafes, restaurants and bars. Be it Japanese, Italian, Indian or bistro/pub food... you'll find it all here.
Some of our favourite haunts include:
- Toby's Estate - For their coffees, burgers and breakfasts! Nice place to hang out with friends or on your own reading/studying/working
- PS Cafe (Martin Road) - This old-face on the food scene needs no introduction! There's nothing old about their beautiful, modern and cozy decor though
- Mikoto - Our insider's tip: this little-known, tiny izakaya will make you feel like you are in Japan! They have a wide selection of sake and Suntory Premium Malts on draft
- TAP - If you love craft beers, do check this place out. They have good selections that rotate regularly so you'll always have something new to try
